MARSHALL, Texas – Finishing out the 2022 season in Ornelas Gym, the East Texas Baptist University acrobatics and tumbling team hosted the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Senior Night. Four student-athletes were honored in
Hannah Hicks,
Berkley McDonald,
Kennedy Brady, and
Addison Prather. ETBU scored their second most post of the year, 231.485, but came up short to the Crusders' 257.27.
Scoring to 9.0+ in the first event of Compulsory, ETBU trailed UMHB, 36.70 to 31.85. The Tigers earned 9.1 scores in both the Pyramid Heat and the Toss Heat. They followed with 21.70 points in the Acro Event to UMHB's 27.15. Their best event was the 5 Element with an 8.45. Putting up two more 9.0+ scores in the Pyramid event, ETBU scored 25.25 points as UMHB had 28.60. ETBU started with a 9.10 in the Inversion and finished with a 9.55 in the Open just before halftime trailing, 92.45 to 78.80.
ETBU was neck-to-neck with UMHB in the Toss Event scoring 23.70 points to the Crusaders' 24.90 points. ETBU had an 8.15 in the Synchronized (heat 2) as their best event. In the Tumbling Event, ETBU came away with 47.375 points to UMHB's 52.55. ETBU had an 8.45 in the Aerial Pass and an 8.25 in the Open Pass as their best two heats. They scored 8.0+ in four of the six heats.
In the team event, ETBU collected their second-best point total of the year with 81.61 points as UMHB totaled just 87.37 points.
This was the final meet of the year for ETBU as they said good-bye to the four seniors.
